Receiver Dixon out for rest of 2014 after surgery

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Speedy freshman wide receiver Johnnie Dixon will miss the rest of Ohio State’s season after surgery on both knees.

Coach Urban Meyer disclosed Dixon’s surgery on his weekly call-in radio show on Thursday.

Meyer said Dixon was suffering from tendinitis in both knees, necessitating an operation.

Dixon is an acclaimed recruit from Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, who enrolled early at Ohio State in January. The 5-foot-11, 198-pounder, one of the fastest players on the 22nd-ranked Buckeyes, was considered in the mix at receiver but had not caught a pass.
