PARIS (AP) — The house of Jean Paul Gaultier has announced that it is stopping women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections.
A short statement Monday said the 62-year-old designer — one of the most famous names in fashion — would be concentrating on the lucrative world of haute couture and perfume lines such as “Le Male.” It didn’t elaborate on the reasons for the closure.
Gaultier, known as Paris fashion’s enfant terrible, has been designing ready-to-wear for nearly 40 years.
The house’s ready-to-wear swan song for spring-summer 2015 will be presented later this month in Paris.
