James Madison’s late drive beats Lehigh 31-28

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — James Madison mounted two last-ditch efforts — a 98-yard scoring drive and then blocked a chip-shot field goal — to rally past Lehigh 31-28 on Saturday.

Jauan Latney scored from the 6 to cap the 98-yard grinder of a drive late in the game. Freshman John Miller rushed for 60 of his 106 yards on the final drive and also scored on a 9-yard run after halftime. The Dukes (1-1) trailed 21-10 after a half, but turned it around after a 38-minute lightning delay to start the third quarter.

Lehigh (0-1) mounted one last drive in the final 4 minutes, advancing to the 10 to line up for a fourth-down field goal with 51 seconds left. James Madison frosh Jimmy Moreland came around the left side and blocked the 27-yard potential game-tier.

Lehigh’s Nick Shafnisky passed for 214 yards and two TDs, and also ran for 121 yards.
