CHEVERLY, Md. (AP) — A 911 tape reveals that a Prince George’s County mother charged with suffocating her two toddlers tried to revive them.
In two frantic 911 calls released Wednesday, the children’s grandmother tells the operator that she and her daughter were performing CPR on the toddlers after “someone tried to suffocate them.”
The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/1qN8RC4 ) that the children’s mother, 24-year-old Sonya Spoon, can be heard in the background at one point apparently counting chest compressions during a CPR attempt.
Spoon later was charged with first- degree murder in the deaths of her children, 1-year-old Ayden and 3-year-old Kayla.
Investigators say the children’s grandmother, Paivi Spoon, found Ayden and Kayla unconscious with plastic bags and duct tape around their heads in their Cheverly home after Sonya Spoon woke her on Sunday.
