WASHINGTON — It took three police departments to chase down someone they said stole a car in Virginia on Wednesday.
A car was reported stolen in Prince William County in the late afternoon, and Fairfax County officers first tried to stop it, but it crossed into Alexandria, says Steven Mittendorff, of the Virginia State Police.
Soon after, state troopers saw the car near Glebe Road in Arlington County, and tried to stop the vehicle on northbound I-395 near the 14th Street Bridge, but the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran away, Mittendorff said.
It took 55 minutes and the help of the Pentagon Police and the Arlington County Police Department’s K-9 unit, but the man was found in a wooded area just off the interstate, near Boundary Channel, Mittendorff said.
He was arrested and is at Arlington Hospital for evaluation.
