WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police say they are searching high and low for the man who killed a 3-year-old girl Sunday afternoon.
Investigators have not slept in an effort to serve the warrant for 25-year-old Davon Wallace’s arrest, who police say is charged with first-degree murder for the death of Knijah Amore Bibb of Northwest Washington.
Police describe the crime as “senseless violence.”
Wallace, of Landover, Maryland, was in a romantic relationship with a young woman who lived at the house, says Lt. Bill Alexander of Prince George’s County police. He was fighting with the woman’s teenage brother over clothes the boy borrowed, Alexander says.
The two fought outside the home in the 6900 block of Forest Terrace in Prince George’s County Sunday afternoon, police say. That’s when investigators believe Wallace left the scene and returned with a handgun, firing more than six rounds into the home. One of those bullets struck 3-year-old Bibb.
The little girl, who was a visitor in the home, was rushed to the hospital, but she did not suffer long before she passed away, Alexander says.
“The young girl, we do not believe, was in any way an intended target. This is obviously horrific, collateral violence,” Alexander says.
The teenage boy, who police believe Wallace was trying to kill, was not home at the time of the shooting, Alexander says.
Those who know anything about Wallace’s location are asked to call 866-411-TIPS or 301-772-4925.
“We will not rest until we get this guy behind bars,” Alexander says.
Police initially said the child was 2, but later said she was 3.
