WASHINGTON — More residents in D.C. buy a day at the spa on Groupon than those in any other city.
But that doesn’t mean D.C. residents are the most pampered city dwellers.
That title goes the good folks in Green Bay, Wisconsin, who have spent more on all pampering products — haircuts, mani-pedis, teeth whitening, etc. — so far in 2014 than those in any other city, Groupon says.
Groupon looked at the coupon-buying habits of Grouponers in 150 cities and found while D.C. residents spent the most on spa days, they didn’t make the cut when all pampering products were combined.
The study evaluated cities in those categories on a purchases per subscriber basis.
Green Bay Groupon users ranked No. 1 when it came to buying facials, No. 2 for hair care and No. 16 for nails.
Perhaps it’s D.C. residents’ tense shoulders that catapulted it to the top of spa deal purchases. The next closest city was Nashville, Tennessee, which spend less than one-third of what D.C. did on spa deals, Groupon says.
The top 10 most pampered cities, according to Groupon:
- Green Bay, Wisconsin.
- White Plains, New York
- Cleveland
- Austin, Texas
- Santa Barbara, California
- Stamford, Connecticut
- Charlotte
- Mobile, Alabama
- Bergen, New Jersey
- Omaha, Nebraska

- Denver — Weight-Loss Program
- Las Vegas — Hangover IV Therapy
- Long Island, New York – Updo
