Metro: weekend work to affect 4 lines

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro says some riders will wait longer for Metro trains this weekend while buses will also replace trains on a section of the red line.

Metro says starting Friday at 10 p.m. and continuing through system closing on Sunday, orange and blue line trains will operate every 20 minutes and yellow line trains will operate every 20 minutes between Huntington and Mount Vernon Square.

Metro says that beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and continuing through system closing on Sunday, free shuttle buses will replace red line trains between Fort Totten and Forest Glen. The Takoma and Silver Spring stations will be closed.

Trains on the silver and green lines will operate at regular weekend intervals.
