Fort Detrick holds anti-terrorism awareness month

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Law enforcement and Army officials at Fort Detrick are working to raise awareness about terrorism threats.

The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1najji5 ) reports that their efforts are part of the annual Anti- terrorism Awareness Month. It was designated by the Department of the Army as an educational tool for military communities.

Richard King, anti-terrorism officer at Fort Detrick, says one of the goals is to encourage employees and residents to report suspicious items, such as an unattended bag.

Anti- terrorism Awareness Month began in 2011. It promotes iWatch, an Army program to encourage people to identify and report suspicious behavior that may be related to terrorist activities.
