WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has ordered the temporary closing of a nightclub where an actor who played a gang member on the television series “The Wire” was stabbed.
Anwan Glover was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed at Cafe Asia, a downtown club, early Sunday morning. The 41-year-old actor told investigators that someone punched him and kicked him repeatedly, and he was stabbed while on the floor of the establishment.
On Monday, Lanier ordered Cafe Asia to be closed for four days. She cited 22 incidents since June 2011 that have led to police being called there. She’s also asking that the club’s license to sell alcohol be revoked.
Glover, who lives in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, most recently appeared in the Oscar-winning movie “12 Years a Slave.”
