Albany escapes with 14-13 win over Holy Cross

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Neil Morrison returned a fumble 79 yards for a touchdown with seconds remaining allowing Albany to escape with a 14-13 win over Holy Cross on Saturday.

Albany, of the Colonial Athletic Association, first scored at 3:55 into fourth quarter on a 12-yard touchdown pass to Brian Parker, but still trailed Holy Cross 13-7.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross missed two kicks from 41 and 27 yards in the second half, but was driving for a score with less than a minute remaining in the game when Gabe Guild fumbled after being hit hard at the line. Morrison picked-up the ball and ran for an Great Dane touchdown. The extra point was good and Albany prevailed 14-13.

The Crusaders Conner Fitzgerald booted two field goals of 26 and 23 yards before Peter Pujals threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jake Wieczorek and Holy Cross of the Patriot League led Albany 13-0 at halftime. Albany got no closer than the Crusaders’ 27-yard line on four first-half possessions.
