FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Frederick police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in a Fourth of July shooting that left a 15-year-old girl injured.
Authorities said the suspect was located late Saturday and taken to a juvenile detention center on Sunday. He is facing several charges, including assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
Police say the 15-year-old girl was struck in the leg by a bullet while walking with friends on Sagner Avenue about 10:45 p.m. Friday. She was treated at a hospital and released. Police don’t believe she was the intended target of the gunfire.
