BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have placed right-hander Bud Norris on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin.
Norris has won four straight starts and is 7-5 with a 3.62 ERA. He left Sunday’s game at Yankee Stadium after five innings because of discomfort in his groin, and an MRI on Thursday revealed the strain.
The move is retroactive to June 22. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Friday he expects Norris to spend the minimum time on the DL.
Baltimore recalled reliever Evan Meek from Triple-A Norfolk to fill Norris’ spot on the roster. The Orioles also recalled right-hander Kevin Gausman as the 26th man for Friday’s split doubleheader and made him the starter in the first game.
