ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Tanard Jackson has been reinstated by the NFL after a drugs-relation suspension that lasted through two seasons, and the Washington Redskins have to decide whether he fits into their plans.
Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said Tuesday he planned to meet with Jackson after the veteran safety takes a physical. Said Allen: “We might give him a chance.”
Jackson was suspended indefinitely without pay by the NFL in August 2012 for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. It was his third drugs-related suspension, and it came a few months after he signed a one-year contract with the Redskins.
Jackson was required to sit a minimum of one year before applying for reinstatement. He ended up missing both the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but he remains under contract to the Redskins.
