WASHINGTON — All lanes of Rock Creek Parkway have reopened between Calvert Street and Virginia Avenue after a crash after a car drove off the road and into a nearby creek Thursday morning.
The car was driving in the southbound lanes of Rock Creek Parkway, when it crossed over the northbound lanes and went into the creek at about 2:30 a.m., says Brian Huss with the U.S. Park Police.
The car overturned and landed upside down in the water.
Emergency vehicles transported the vehicle’s two occupants — a man and a woman — to an area hospital. Officials say the woman sustained critical injuries and the man has minor injuries.
Officials haven’t said who was driving at the time of the crash.
Rock Creek Parkway was closed at P Street Northwest. All lanes reopened at about 8 a.m. after crews removed the car and cleared the scene.
