Mother says teen shot by police didn’t need to die (Video)

WASHINGTON — The mother of a 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed by Purcellville police over the weekend claims the officer who fired is guilty of using excessive force.

“It’s just too much,” Sandra Sierra tells Fox 5. “This was not handled properly, my son could have been saved.”

Christian Sierra was killed at a friend’s home Saturday after police responded to a 911 call.

Sierra was threatening to hurt himself, but authorities claim he threatened them with a knife when they arrived.

Virginia State Police are investigating. After their probe is complete, Loudoun County prosecutors will decide whether or not any charges are warranted.

“I woke up thinking this was a nightmare and I went to his room and he wasn’t there,” Sierra tells Fox 5.

She claims her son was depressed, but not violent.
