FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Canoe and kayak enthusiasts can learn more about the scenic Monocacy River in Frederick County by picking up a copy of Maryland’s latest water trail map.
State and local officials announced availability of the waterproof guide Wednesday. It’s the first such map focusing on a western Maryland tributary of the Potomac River.
The state Department of Natural Resources, in partnership with local governments and organizations, has produced about 20 such maps, mostly for waterways in southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore.
The colorful guides include detailed information about access points and highlight nearby natural, historic and cultural attractions.
