WASHINGTON — Just after midnight Saturday morning, two cars collided in Rockville at Aspen Hill Road and Parkland Drive in an apparent hit and run.
Two adults and an eight-month-old baby were injured.
Montgomery County Police say the driver of one vehicle T-boned another. The driver of the second vehicle reportedly fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived. Just after that, the vehicle burst into flames, police spokesman Paul Starks says.
Police originally said the victims were taken to a trauma center with serious injuries. On Sunday, Starks told WTOP that the injuries were not life-threatening, but couldn’t say how the victims were doing.
The search for the driver continues, though police tracked down a woman in Rockville who owns the vehicle, Starks says.
“She claimed to have lent her vehicle to a co-worker about an hour before the collision occurred,” Starks says. “Police are attempting to contact him now through the information they have from the vehicle owner.”
Police officers hope to speak to the man to whom she lent the vehicle.
“We believe this is a closable case,” Starks says. “We hope to talk to the driver of the other vehicle by Monday or Tuesday.”
