Learn how Greg Coleman, co-founder of Silver Spring-based mobile app Nexercise credits his Air Force and National Guard military service to help him build a successful business.
Greg brings more than 18 years of management and operations expertise to the Nexercise team. He has extensive experience leading teams through complex and rapidly changing situations and has advised early-stage, mid-stage, and Fortune 100 companies in a number of critical areas, including strategy, management, operations, business development and marketing. Greg runs the business side of Nexercise by leading operations, business development, marketing, legal, and finance.
Prior to co-founding Nexercise, Greg and Ben co-founded the boutique strategy consulting firm C.Y. Strategy. Together they have provided advisory services to early-stage, mid-stage, and not for profit organizations. Greg also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard where he is a squadron commander. Previously, Greg was the deputy commander of a seven-department U.S. Air Force operations organization where he led all facets of daily operations. He was also an operations program manager where he managed the utilization of over $233M in aircraft inventory and 80 flight crew members while leading all associated interactions and execution. He managed the safe transportation of government and military VIPs, including the U.S. Speaker of the House and foreign Heads of State.
In his military role, Greg is a Command Pilot with over 3,500 flight hours and while on active duty, he completed over 60 global combat and combat support missions and commanded one of the first missions in support of the national response to hurricane Katrina. He is a leader with formal training, real-world experience, and numerous awards.
Greg received a Masters of Business Administration from The Wharton School with a dual major in finance & entrepreneurial management. He has also earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy. Greg holds certifications in Advanced and Applied Financial Modeling and is also a graduate of the Department of Defense’s Defense Acquisition University’s Fundamentals of Systems Acquisition program.
