WASHINGTON — HBO recently broke the Internet when millions of viewers crashed HBO Go during the “True Detective” season finale last Sunday.
Now, the folks behind award-winning shows like “True Blood” and “Girls” are at it again as they team up with Facebook to bring fans a livestream of the “Game of Thrones” season 4 red carpet premiere:
Catch Jon Snow, Cersei, Tyrion and the rest as they strut down the red carpet March 18 at Lincoln Center in New York City. The evening will be streamed for free on Facebook Live, but viewers can also log on to Instagram to ask the cast questions.
“The fans have made Game of Thrones a global phenomenon, so we wanted to give them an opportunity to be a part of the excitement on red carpet premiere night,” Sabrina Caluori, HBO’s vice president of digital and social media told Mashable.
“By partnering with Facebook we’re able to reach a huge global fan base beyond the nearly 10 million that are already connected to the Game of Thrones Facebook page.”
An exclusive trailer for the new season will be aired following the red carpet. The new season kicks off April 6.
