WASHINGTON — They were serving up ‘hoecakes’ in Mount Vernon Saturday morning as a part of George Washington’s birthday celebration.
Hoecakes are the general’s favorite breakfast food. They are are a type of corn meal pancake.
Despite the cold, groups came out to get a taste of history.
Monday is the big celebration for George Washington with admission being free to visit Mount Vernon.
