While parents watch the Super Bowl on Sunday, many of them won’t be encouraging their kids to pick up a football.
According to a new WallStreet Journal/NBC News poll, 40 percent of Americans respond they would sway their kids from playing the game due to concussion concerns and other dangers.
Other poll findings include some responses differ based on income levels. Nearly half of the participants in the poll’s highest income bracket say they don’t want their kids on the football field because of concussion fears. But only 28 percent of respondents in the poll’s lowest income bracket, feel the same.
There also seems to be a difference about whether to let kids play or not play among political party lines. The poll finds Democrats are more likely to guide their kids away from the pigskin.
Overall, however, Americans are still in love with the game with 57 percent of those surveyed responding they would not hesitate if their child wanted to put on a helmet.
