Bethesda Residents Say USPS Is Again Not Delivering Mail — Bethesda residents are again complaining about a lack of regular mail service from USPS. One resident said she hasn’t received mail in a week. Some mail carriers say they’ve been told to cut short their routes in order to get off the road by 6 p.m. The USPS said there were interruptions last week because of the snow, a similar response to what USPS officials told us after snow and numerous complaints in January. Kraze Burgers Blames Lot 31 Construction For Bankruptcy — Kraze Burgers, the failed Korean burger chain location at Elm Street and Bethesda Avenue, says a poor economy and the effects of Lot 31 construction led to its sales dropping by 50 percent. The bankruptcy case will likely be dismissed, according to a spokesperson, who also said the other locations will remain open. [Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row]
French Government, State Department Negotiating Train Reparations — The U.S. State Department is negotiating with the French government about reparations to American Holocaust survivors who were deported to Nazi concentration camps in French trains. The controversy has come to light in Maryland, where a Rockville-based subsidiary of the government-owned French railroad company is bidding to be a partner in the Purple Line. A law being considered in Annapolis would require companies with Holocaust ties to pay reparations to survivors before being selected for state contracts. [Washington Post]
