WASHINGTON — Starting at noon Sunday, February 23, the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) lottery opens up to interested runners.
This is a new format for the race, which had previously been registering runners on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The last lottery system registration was in 2004, according to a MCM press release.
“MCM registration now is more accessible to everyone, over a longer period so runners don’t have to be concerned about missing out on an opportunity to run the MCM because they are at work or not able to get online the instant registration opens,” says Rick Nealis, MCM Director.
The MCM is in its 39th year running. It is the third largest marathon in the U.S. and the eighth largest in the world.
The race is October 26 begins in Arlington, Va. and the course spans across D.C.
