WASHINGTON – It seems no one ever liked the J. Edgar Hoover Building, the hulking concrete behemoth on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Now that it’s outlived its usefulness, the General Services Administration is narrowing the scope of where the new FBI headquarters will be built. The GSA, Uncle Sam’s real estate broker, says it will only consider sites within two miles of a Metro station and either inside the Beltway or within two miles of a beltway interchange. That leaves out Loudon and Stafford counties.
The GSA estimates 50 acres would be about the right size for the new headquarters.
