WASHINGTON – The Pope made a new friend over the weekend in a young boy who wandered onto the stage at the Vatican, hugged the spiritual leader and ignored all attempts to separate him from the Pope’s side.
Thousands of people flooded Vatican City Saturday to celebrate the Year of Faith with Pope Francis. During a ceremony, a young boy walked on to the stage and would not leave the Pope, even after several cardinals tried to escort the boy off the stage, according to Yahoo! News.
The boy’s attention-grabbing antics didn’t end there: He kissed the Pope’s cross, hugged the Pope’s legs when he spoke to the crowd, and attempted to intervene when other people came on stage to greet Pope Francis.
Eventually, the Pope convinced the boy to take a seat — but it wasn’t any ordinary seat. The child sat in the Pope’s chair as he continued his speech.
