WASHINGTON – Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones was injured early Monday morning after allegedly being hit over the head by a woman wielding a large bottle of alcohol.
TMZ is reporting Jones and his teammates were on a party bus in D.C. celebrating Bryant McKinnie’s birthday. The group was seen leaving Opera Ultra Lounge in Northwest moments before a fight broke out on the bus.
A spokeswoman from the Metropolitan Police Department says officers were flagged down shortly before 3 a.m. near 15th and I streets. A man was injured, but told officials he did not know how he obtained the injury, Gwendolyn Crump says in an email. He refused medical attention.
TMZ reports that injury came from a stripper named Sweat Pea, who allegedly swung a bottle of Ace of Spades at Jones. The bottle smashed over his head, and at least one of Jones’ friends tried to retaliate against Sweet Pea. McKinnie tried to stop the retaliation, TMZ reports.
UPDATE: NBC Washington reports a Twitter account with the handle @SweetP#509 attempts to clarify that Sweet Pea/P is not a stripper and that she never hit Jones with a bottle:
I would like to clear up the fact that I'm a waitress & the girls on the pic aren't a bunch of (cont) http://t.co/1dY3hu2hWU

The full tweet reads: I would like to clear up the fact that I’m a waitress & the girls on the pic aren’t a bunch of strippers. Jacoby & I had a verbal confrontation & that was it!!! I never hit him with a bottle & I wish ppl would stop spreading lies on the internet.
The Twitter account bio says @SweetP#509 is a hostess and waitress at King of Diamonds — the name of a Miami strip club.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh addressed the issue saying Jones is “fine.”
Harbaugh did not provide details of the altercation. The coach did say Jones “went through everything today that he was supposed to go through.”
Harbaugh says he scolded Jones and addressed the team. He says, “It’s not something we want to be known for. … It’s nothing to be proud of. I’m kind of disappointed in that sense.”
Jones is rehabilitating a knee injury and has not played since the season opener.
