WASHINGTON – Metro says most of its communication systems have been restored.
The transit agency at 11:30 a.m. Thursday reported the restorations of the following systems:
- Metro’s website;
- Automated customer information by phone (202-637-7000);
- Metro Transit Police phone lines (202-962-2121);
- Platform displays that say when trains will arrive;
- NextBus;
- MetroAccess call center.
When the problems started shortly before 9 a.m., the transit agency said safety on the subway trains was not affected.
The network problems were intermittent, and Metro’s Operations Control Center was able to communicate with all trains and all stations, the transit agency said.
As of 11:30 a.m., Metro said operators may not be able to provide live assistance to customers who call 202-637-7000.
The cause of the network problems has not been determined.
