WASHINGTON – The public can voice concerns over a possible VRE fare increase at a public hearing Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m.
The VRE said in an email reminder that the hearing will be held at the Rappahannock Regional Library in the Theatre Room. The library is located at 1201 Caroline Street in Fredericksburg, Va.
This and other public hearings are being held specifically to hear comments about a proposed 4 percent fare increase.
The VRE says if the increase is adopted, the change would go into effect on the first week of July, coinciding with the start of the 2014 fiscal year.
The last fare increase was a 3 percent hike that the VRE instated was in July 2012, about a year before this increase would go into effect.
