WASHINGTON – Wedding season is fast approaching and many brides-to-be are eyeing the latest in wedding couture.
While many grooms will try to look sharp in their tuxedos, some brides will walk down the aisle in gowns made from lace, chiffon and … roadkill?
Yes, dead animals. British designer Jess Eaton is making it possible with her new line called Roadkill Couture. The garments featured include gowns and head pieces made from deceased ivory birds.
But it’s not just wedding dresses. Outfits made of black and brown birds, and even foxes, are part of her project. According to Eaton’s website, none of the dead animals were killed by her organization. They were all, “found by ourselves, donated by friends, family or pest control or bought at the butcher and we have processed each and every one ourselves.”
She says no animal was hurt for the collection.
From May 19 to 21, Roadkill Couture will be on display at the White Gallery in London.
“My exhibit draws inspiration from a range of dark and dramatic romantics like Tim Burton and Scarlett O’Hara and I have a spectacular centrepiece planned as a big surprise for visitors,” Eaton tells the Huffington Post.
