WASHINGTON – A Maryland sea captain and his Virginia first mate had planned to take a client’s motor sailboat from Virginia to Florida for delivery earlier this month.
Now, they’re fortunate to be alive.
Pat Schoenberger, 38, and Jim Southward, 40, were rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter about 25 miles east of Cape Lookout, N.C., during a March 6 winter storm.
