Officials in Fairfax County are pushing to house the FBI headquarters on a site in Springfield that currently houses large, federally owned storage warehouses well past their prime, The Washington Post reported. The county has long hoped to redevelop the area.
But Fairfax isn’t the only one pushing for the FBI’s new headquarters since the bureau announced its desire to abandon its current spot in the District’s J. Edgar Hoover Building. The District wants to keep the agency, and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland are both looking to compete.
