NASHVILLE – The Nationals have made some moves to help bolster the club during the Winter Meetings.
On Tuesday, the club came to terms, in principle, with right-hander and free-agent starter Dan Haren and signed Zack Duke to put a left-handed arm in the bullpen.
The Nats are still working to resign first baseman Adam LaRoche who wants a three- year contract while the Nationals are offering a two-year deal.
Earlier, the Nats made the trade to bring center fielder Denard Span from the Twins in exchange for minor-league starting pitcher Alex Meyer.
In this edition of our podcast, I talk with MLB.com’s beat writer Bill Ladson and someone who should know a little bit about Span, St. Paul Pioneer Press’ Ben Goessling who covers the Twins.
All three of us covered the Nationals a few years back and we talk baseball, Yankees, because Ladson is a Yankee fan, and also music.
Enjoy.
