WASHINGTON – A group of kids have cast their vote for the next president of the United States in a mock election at Madame Tussauds.
They got the chance to let their voices be heard in their very own election Saturday. The first-ever Kids Election Day at Madame Tussauds in Washington, D.C. was held in the Presidents Gallery from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Once the kids were registered by state, they had their pictures taken for a voter registration card. They cast their ballots inside an authentic voting booth with a touchscreen that showed a picture of the two candidates.
Marco Shaik, 9, watched the presidential debates and took his vote very seriously. “There was President Obama’s face and Mitt Romney’s face and I pressed the one that I wanted,” Shaik says.
Trinity Moses, 9, says it’s very important to vote, “because you want to make the right choice about who should be the President of the United States every four years,” Moses says.
Each child received an “I voted” sticker and the chance to purchase their voter registration photo.
The final votes were tallied and President Obama was reelected with an 80 percent majority. Visitors to the Facebook page of Madame Tussauds can see the results.
