WASHINGTON – A Prince George’s County judge has ordered a 13-year-old boy to be placed into therapeutic foster care.
He was convicted last month of involuntary manslaughter in the beating death of his 2-year-old foster sister.
The boy was charged as a juvenile and his name is not being released. Prince George’s County police say the boy’s father called 911 Tuesday night to report that the girl was unresponsive. The man performed CPR on the child, but she was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Prosecutors say the boy entered an Alford Plea to involuntary manslaughter in the July death in Fort Washington. An autopsy confirmed the child, who was identified as Aniyah Batchelor, died of blunt force trauma, according to Prince George’s County police.
Prosecutors lost their bid to have the boy committed to a more restrictive facility.
