WASHINGTON – A 10th-grade student hit by a police cruiser at a football game in Montgomery County, Md., Friday night is doing better, her principal at Watkins Mill High School says.
Principal Scott Murphy says 15-year-old Janaya Richards is still in intensive care, with head trauma and bone fractures, but she’s alert, talking with friends and family and will begin physical therapy soon. Murphy says her prognosis for recovery is very good.
The principal says an investigation is being done to determine why the student was hit by the cruiser. Montgomery County Police Cpl. Raymond Bennett remains on leave.
