Fall deals follow summer’s end

WASHINGTON – As summer draws to a close, companies are lowering prices to make room for new product versions or to get rid of seasonal items.

With this in mind, now might be the time to book a trip or upgrade phones. Here are some of the discounted items Lifehacker recommends.

Bikes: The season for cycling is coming to an end. As manufacturers get ready to announce next year’s models, now is the time bikes go on sale.

Cars: For those seeking four-wheeled transportation, cars will be cheaper in September as manufacturers roll out 2013 models.

Airfare: Eight weeks before a travel date is the best time to buy, so purchase now to prepare for the holidays.

MP3 players: The new Apple iPhone and iPod will be announced in September, so retail stores are clearing out the soon-to-be obsolete versions. And it isn’t just Apple announcing new technology, other companies will do the same.

Lifehacker has more discounts and advice on where the best deals are.
