WASHINGTON – An 81-year-old woman died in a crash in Anne Arundel County Sunday afternoon.
Anne Arundel police say she was the passenger in a car that hit a tree on Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena around 1 p.m.
The woman was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by fire department personnel. She was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she died as a result of her injuries.
The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Johns Hopkins Trauma Center to be treated.
Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, police say, but a medical issue has not been ruled out.
