WASHINGTON – Early Monday morning, a traffic milestone was reached when the Outer Loop thru and local lanes heading towards the Wilson Bridge were opened in their permanent configuration.
At the decision point after Van Dorn Street, drivers are now offered two thru lanes and three local lanes. In addition, drivers will find fresh, smooth asphalt.
As a result, several callers to the WTOP Traffic Center Monday afternoon reported a much easier, happier commute. Some even described the new asphalt as “stunning.”
The completion of the Outer Loop lanes means that both loops are now in their permanent configuration.
While this may not solve all of the Wilson Bridge commuting woes every day, having all of the available lanes should go far in consistently improving the ride.
