WASHINGTON – A popular jogging spot has turned into a crime scene after two people were robbed there earlier this month.
The first incident happened July 6 at 7:45 p.m. in the tunnel under Wisconsin Avenue near Elm Street Park, Bethesda Patch reports.
Officials say two suspects – one carrying a knife and wearing a bandana over his face – assaulted a pedestrian who refused to turn over his belongings. Both of the suspects ran away.
Two weeks later on July 20, a second victim was punched in the face after being approached by a group of four teens, Patch reports. One suspect stole the victim’s wallet before the group took off on foot.
Authorities say groups of teens had been seen near the tunnel on the days before the robberies, but they do not know if the incidents are related.
