18 new speed camera zones coming to Montgomery Co.
Eighteen new speed camera enforcement areas in the county will not feature fixed cameras in permanent locations. Instead, portable speed camera units will be continuously moved throughout the length of monitored roadways, according to a news release from Montgomery County Police.

U.S., China forge tentative deal on Chinese activist
The U.S. and China forged the outlines of a deal Friday to end a diplomatic standoff over legal activist Chen Guangcheng, with Beijing saying he can apply to go abroad for study and Washington saying he has been offered an American fellowship.

Bump-and-grab scam resurfaces with a dangerous twist
On April 14, a 58-year-old man was hit from behind on Jones Lane in North Potomac. When he got out of his vehicle, he was confronted by two masked men who had a gun and a knife. The suspects tied the man up with duct tape, put him in the trunk of his car and used his debit card to get money from an ATM. Police say they have an ATM photo of a suspect from the latest incident but he’s wearing a mask.

Bus tour brings fake RI ‘Family Guy’ town to life
Quahog, R.I., the fictional hometown of Peter Griffin and his dysfunctional “Family Guy” relatives, is coming to life. The show will meld with reality this weekend when a local tourism council sponsors an all-day bus tour highlighting the Rhode Island institutions featured _ for better or worse _ on the Fox network’s hit series.
