WASHINGTON – The Washington Nationals snapped their five-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a 5-4 win on Ian Desmond’s two-run, walk-off homer off Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz.
The Nationals also got a great contribution from 19-year old rookie phenom Bryce Harper who had three hits including two doubles, an RBI and a scored a run. Harper is 6-for 13 since being called up from Syracuse on Saturday in Los Angeles.
With the win, the Nats are now 15-9 and in first place in the NL East.
WTOP’s Craig Heist sat down with MLB.com Nationals beat reporter Bill Ladson and talked about Harper, the struggling offense and the great pitching this team has gotten from its starters and from the bullpen.
