Pr. George’s Co. authorities rescue man stuck in waist-deep mud

WASHINGTON — A man who got stuck in deep mud in Prince George’s County on Thursday morning prompted emergency workers to devise a unique rescue.

The man was working in the partially drained Cosca Lake at Cosca Regional Park in Clinton, Md. when he became lodged in deep mud up to his waist, says Mark Brady, with the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS department.

Rescue crews had to figure out the best way to get to the man, and ultimately stretched ladders — about 65 feet of ladder — across the muddied lake to reach the man.

The man was wearing waders over his pants, officials say, and crews were able to pull the man out of the waders.

Authorities said the man showed signs of shock, but is expected to be okay.
