WASHINGTON — More movie screens and a better food court are among the changes in the works at a popular Bethesda mall.
Upgrades have been planned at Montgomery Mall for years, but were shelved during the economic downturn.
Now, Katy Dickey, with Westfield, the mall’s operator, tells WTOP the company wants to move ahead with more modest improvements.
The plan is for a bigger food court with more dining choices and a more pleasing space to sit and eat in.
A new movie theater would be built on top of the food court, with more than a dozen screens.
The mall’s current theater only has three screens.
The changes still need county approval, but if all goes according to plan, construction would begin late this year.
