WASHINGTON – A new game will make you pay for picking up your phone during dinner — literally.
The rules of the game are pretty simple.
After everybody orders dinner, everybody puts his phone in a stack face down on the table.
The first person to pick up his phone during the meal loses and pays for dinner. If everybody is able to resist, then each person pays for his own meal.
That’s it.
Is answering a phone call or reading a text message really worth paying for everyone’s dinner?
That probably depends on the message, but that could be a pretty costly risk to find out.
The game was created by a 20-year-old college student in California named Stephanie, who says she created the game to encourage more conversation during dinner.
