WASHINGTON – Looks like the 99 percent will be taking on a new foe in 2012: Batman.
The ‘official’ trailer for the “The Dark Knight Rises,” the latest installment of the Batman series, hit the Internet Monday, giving the public a look at what will undoubtedly be one of next year’s biggest movies.
The trailer was released after a six-minute “prologue” was posted on the Internet over the weekend. The bootlegged segment was shown before “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” in select IMAX theaters.
Among the highlights of the trailer are a whispered speech from Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) where she tells Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) that his life as a “one-percenter” is approaching its conclusion, and the end will be swift and brutal.
We also see the film’s other enemy, Bane (Tom Hardy), tell Batman he should prepare for his demise.
In a film where special effects will be at a premium, the trailer also shows a football stadium reduced to a sinkhole during a kickoff return.
‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will hit theaters some time during the summer of 2012.
