WASHINGTON (AP) — Tim Barnes threw four touchdown passes to help Georgetown handle Davidson 38-14 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
Barnes went 25 of 33 for 221 yards while Alex Valles carried 11 times for 96 yards.
Georgetown built a 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter on an 18-yard pass from Barnes to Justin Hill, then a 27-yard field goal by Henry Darmstadter. Davidson cut into the deficit, striking from long distance on Stockton McGuire’s 56-yard touchdown pass to Jaris Scott, with 4:15 left in the half.
The Hoyas then went on a quick drive — with Valles’ 53-yard rush eating up much of the field — and made it 17-7 at intermission on Barnes’ 2-yard toss to Justin Harrell.
In the third, Barnes hooked up with Brand Williams from 33 yards, and Hill again from the 5, and the Hoyas cruised from there.
