AP Player of the Week: Nebraska’s Jaz Shelley leads team to comeback win over Iowa

The Associated Press national player of the week in women’s basketball for Week 14 of the season:

JAZ SHELLEY, NEBRASKA

The 5-foot-9 grad student scored 10 of her season-high 23 points in the final five minutes to help the Huskers erase a 14-point fourth quarter deficit and beat No. 2 Iowa, tying the highest ranked team that Nebraska has ever beaten. She made all four of her free throws in the final 19 seconds to seal the victory. She also had five assists in the win. Shelley also had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists in a win over Michigan.

RUNNER-UP

Raegan Beers, Oregon State. The sophomore helped the Beavers get their first top five road win in school history with a victory over then-No. 4 Colorado. She had 12 points and 12 rebounds in that game. She also had 17 points in a win over then-No. 20 Utah.

HONORABLE MENTION

Liz Kitley (Virginia Tech), Chloe Kitts ( South Carolina ), Savannah Wheeler ( Middle Tennessee )

KEEP AN EYE ON

Claira McGowan, Lipscomb. Scored a Division I program record 37 points in a double-overtime win over North Florida. Also had 17 points in a victory over Jacksonville. The junior guard averaged 27 points, 10 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the two victories.
