Bynum scores 21, Providence takes down Northeastern 89-65

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Jared Bynum scored 21 points as Providence beat Northeastern 89-65 on Saturday night.

Bynum also added nine assists for the Friars (2-0). Clifton Moore scored 15 points while going 6 of 8 from the field and added five rebounds. Noah Locke recorded 13 points and was 5-of-11 shooting (2 for 7 from distance).

The Huskies (0-2) were led by Coleman Stucke, who posted 17 points. Jahmyl Telfort added 11 points for Northeastern. Chase Cormier also had 11 points and four assists.

The game was close heading into the half, as Providence held a two-point lead, 38-36. Moore paced his team in scoring through the first half with nine points. Providence outscored Northeastern by 22 points in the second half, and Bynum scored a team-high 16 points in the second half to help his team secure the victory.

Up next for Providence is a matchup Tuesday with Stonehill at home. Northeastern hosts Harvard on Wednesday.
