WASHINGTON — Summer concert season is just around the corner, and Live Nation is turning up the heat by offering fans concert tickets for just $20.

The live entertainment company made more than one million tickets available starting 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, as part of its “Kickoff the Summer Ticket Promotion.” The sale will end midnight May 9.

The tickets cover about 1,000 shows all over the county, featuring big name performers such as John Mayer, Chris Brown and Deep Purple, to name a few.

Local performances feature artists including Chevelle, Deftones, Queen, Adam Lambert and more, who will perform in various venues across the greater D.C. metro area. See the full list of shows in Maryland, Virginia and D.C. on the event’s website.

The promotional event follows a successful experiment by Kid Rock, who dropped tickets to $20 in 2013, according to Digital Music News. Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said the experiment filled arenas and drove revenue.

The company launched its summer season on National Concert Day, May 1, by holding a concert in New York and allowing AT&T customers access to ticket pre-sales.

But if you experience website issues, you aren’t the only one. The high volume of traffic caused both Live Nation’s website and ticketmaster to experience technical difficulties just minutes after the promotion’s launch.
